Minister General Visited the New Mission in Thailand
From 9 to 11 December 2025, the Minister General, Br. Massimo Fusarelli, and the General Definitor for Asia-Oceania, Br. John Wong, visited the Order’s new mission in Ubon Ratchathani, in north-eastern Thailand. Their presence was an important support for a missionary initiative that marks the third time the Order of Friars Minor has established a presence in the country. (ofm.org)

What is East Asian Conference (EAC)?
The East Asia Conference (EAC) of the Order of Friars Minor is a regional conference that brings together Franciscan friars from East Asian countries such as. The EAC is part of the worldwide Order of Friars Minor, a Catholic religious order founded by St. Francis of Assisi.
The conference promote unity and collaboration among Franciscan friars in East Asia and foster Franciscan spirituality and mission in the region. Support the development of Franciscan life and ministries in local churches.
The EAC comprises several countries, including Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Philippines, China, Taiwan-Hongkong, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand and Laos. The conference provides a platform for friars to share experiences, resources, and expertise, and to work together in areas such as formation, mission,social and ecological justice.
EAC's Focus Areas:
Formation and ongoing education of friars
Mission and evangelization in East Asia , Social and Ecological justice and advocacy, particularly for marginalized communities
Intercultural and interreligious dialogue.
The EAC is led by a president and a council, who serve the Franciscan community in the region.
