    A Joint JPIC Meeting On 8-11 May 2017, the JPIC Committees of the two Franciscan Provinces of Japan and Korea held their 8th annual joint meeting in Nagasaki, Japan. “Peace in the Asian Context” was the theme of the gathering, motivated by the venue where the US nuclear bomb was dropped at the end of World War II.  The brothers, 3 from Korea and 4 from Japan, gave each other updates and planned for stronger networking between the two committees.  An important part of the meeting was a visit to

    YOUNG ASIAN FRIARS GATHERINGS TO BE HELD IN MANILA ON 2019
    The meeting of the Presidents of EAC & SAAOC together with the Secretaries of Formation and Studies and Missions and Evangelization, upon the recommendation of the Definitor General for Asia decided the venue and arranged the schedule of the two gatherings: Fourth Asian Young Friars’ Gathering and Asian Mission Congress. These meetings will be held in Manila. The Fourth Asian Young Friars’ Gathering will be on February 8-18, 2019 while the Asian Mission Congress will be on February 16-20, 2019.

    The first Continental Congress for formators of the Six-Year 2015-2021 started in Jakarta (Indonesia), at Casa Monte Rosa, in Puncak.     FIRST DIACONATE ORDINATION OF THE OFM MYANMAR FOUNDATION
    On June 17, 2016, Br. Jerome Vung Za Langh, OFM, was ordained a deacon by Cardinal Charles Bo, SDB, D.D., Archbishop of Yangon at the chapel of the Formation house in Dagon, Yangon, Myanmar.  Br. Jerome isthe first local friar of the Foundation of St Francis in Myanmar who made Solemn Profession and ordained a Deacon. Around 20 priests and a good number of religious came for the Ordination. Br. Jerome’s family together with more than a hundred lay faithful came to pray and join the celebration.
